Gray Leaf Spot is a relatively new turfgrass disease that has been found on Long Island and in the lower Hudson Valley and sod growers and turf managers are asking about resistant Perennial ryegrass cultivars. Even though this disease doesn?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?t show up until late summer or early fall it is wise to keep an eye out for this one. From a distance initial GLS outbreaks resemble drought stress. Symptoms and specific control strategies can be found at https://plantclinic.cornell.edu/. When overseeding sports fields with PRG select cultivars that are more resistant. Feel free to review the NTEP database (https://ntep.org) for more details and consider using some of the following cultivars which are not immune but more resistant to GLS: Palmer GLS, Repell GLS, Panther GLS, Palmer IV, SR4600, Harrier, Paragon, and Prot????????(C)g????????(C).(Meyers, Rutgers). ?EUR??,,????'?????<???(R) Courtesy of Joann Gruttadaurio, Extension Sport Turf Specialist, Cornell University
