Bob Campbell, CSFM, director of grounds and maintenance for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN, was re-elected president of the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA). The CSFM designates Certified Sports Field Manager, a certification program developed and administered by STMA.

Sports Turf Managers Association Elects 2004 Officers, Board of Directors

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa?EUR??,,????'??+The Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) announced its 2004 officers and board of directors January 24, 2004, at the annual meeting held in conjunction with the Association?EUR??,,????'???s 15th Annual Conference and Exhibition in San Diego, California.

Bob Campbell, CSFM, director of grounds and maintenance for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN, was re-elected president.

Re-elected to one-year officer positions were:

Mike Trigg, CSFM, president elect, superintendent of parks for the Waukegan Park District, Waukegan, IL;

Mike Andresen, CSFM, secretary, athletic turf manger for Iowa State University, Ames, IA;

Victoria Wallace, Exeter, RI, vice president (commercial), northeast marketing manager and technical agronomist for Turf-Seed, Inc.; and

Boyd Montgomery, CSFM, treasurer, facilities and maintenance director for the Sylvania Recreation Corporation, Sylvania, Ohio.

Elected to two-year positions on the board are:

James Rodgers, CSFM, sports field manager for the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, representing sports turf managers of college and university facilities;

Lance Tibbetts, deputy director of the recreation department for Westbrook, ME, representing sports turf managers of parks and recreation facilities; and

Dr. Dave Minner, associate professor of horticulture for Iowa State University in Ames, representing those in research, extension and the teaching positions.

Tra DuBois, president of World Class Athletic Surfaces, Inc., Leland, MS, was appointed by President Campbell to fill the remaining year of the two-year term as director representing commercial members, a position vacated when Wallace was elected vice president (commercial).

Continuing on the board in the second year of their two-year director positions are: Abby McNeal, CSFM, assistant turfgrass manager for INVESCO Field at Mile High, Denver, CO; and George Trivett, CSFM, sports turf manager for Granite Falls Middle School, Granite Falls, NC.

L. Murray Cook, president of SPORTSTurf Services, Columbia, MD, will serve a second one-year term on the board as immediate past president.
