As companies look to meet sustainability standards, soy chemistry innovation and the products it helps produce is helping them achieve their goals.

The United Soybean Board reports that manufacturers are increasingly turning to soybean derivatives to replace petrochemicals and possible carcinogens in their products, whose research and development is being supported by the USB.

According to a recent release by the organization, sustainable soy derivatives also help manufacturers reduce carbon emissions, improve product safety, avoid supply interruptions and, in many cases, improve product performance.

The release announced the availability of 29 new products developed with USB support in 2015 including rubber belts, an insulating foam that helps green building contractors earn LEED certification, wood adhesives that replaced formaldehyde with a soy-based alternative, and lubricants and solvents that reduced reliance on petrochemicals.
