Dallas-based Dunhill Homes has launched seven new subdivisions in the Dallas and Houston markets since March 2011. In July 2011, Dunhill added two new communities to its portfolio: The Retreat at Craig Ranch in McKinney, and Ridgeview Farms in Northwest Fort Worth.

This expansionary spree in Texas follows in the wake of the company launching two master-planned communities in Las Vegas. Yes, Las Vegas!

Leyden Rock, a new master planned community (MPC) designed by Consilium Design, was unanimously approved by the Arvada, Colorado City Council on Aug. 9, 2011. This will be a 1,439 home MPC featuring over 600 acres of parks and over 14 miles of trails. Arvada homebuilder Remington Homes, and other builders, will a part of the development. Consilium Design, headquartered in Centennial, Colo., is a full service land planning, landscape architecture and urban design firm.

According to John Ritter, CEO and chairman of Focus Property Group, master-planned communities (MPCs) spend a lot of money to create a brand, and ?EUR??,,????'?????<

RCLCO, an independent real estate advisory firm, announced in May 2011 the Top-Selling U.S. Master-Planned Communities (MPC) for 2010. The Villages, an active adult community in central Florida, had 2,107 net sales in 2010, making it the top selling MPC in the U.S. The Villages of Irvine (Irvine Company) in Orange County, Calif. came in second with 965 homes sold. The top 10 MPCs sold a total of 7,000 homes in 2010, a slight increase over 2009. Still, the total is still less than a third of the peak of 22,000 MPC homes sold in 2005.
