Solar Light Certified to Withstand 150 mph Winds, Company Says

 

SOL purports its SL Series (solar) street light was the only operating light within five miles of this Miami neighborhood after Hurricane Andrew passed through.

Hurricane Andrew slammed into South Florida on Aug. 24, 1992, devastating Florida City and parts of Miami, then continued northwest across the Gulf of Mexico to strike the Louisiana coastline.

SOL, Inc., formerly Solar Outdoor Lighting, Inc., announces its SLH Series solar lighting has been certified by independent structural engineers to meet or exceed ASCE 7-05 specifications for 150 mph winds. The lighting series uses a flat panel design. The attachment to the pole has also been certified to eliminate weak points.
