Kansas is to tornadoes what California is to earthquakes. The Sunflower State, aka the Wheat State, experienced 187 tornadoes in 2008. Texas came in a distant second at 116. These scary, funneling winds caused 125 deaths in Kansas in 2008.
Sol Inc. of Palm City, Fla., which has its LED outdoor lighting installed in more than 50 countries, donated solar powered sign lighting to Chapman, Kansas as part of Kansas State University?EUR??,,????'?????<???????????????????????(R)?EUR??,,????'????s volunteer efforts to help Chapman recover from one of last year?EUR??,,????'?????<???????????????????????(R)?EUR??,,????'????s devastating tornadoes.
?EUR??,,????'?????<?????????????????After receiving a request from a group of volunteers from the University of Kansas, we felt compelled to assist the team?EUR??,,????'?????<???????????????????????(R)?EUR??,,????'????s efforts in rebuilding the community,?EUR??,,????'?????<????????????????? explained Michael Sonnenfeldt, chairman of Sol Inc. ?EUR??,,????'?????<?????????????????The lights were initially requested for a landscaping element, but the students felt the lights were more useful illuminating the entrance to the Town of Chapman.?EUR??,,????'?????<?????????????????

Sol has also donated solar powered lighting to Port St. Lucie, Fla., one of the communities thrashed by Hurricane Katrina, and to the 2007 earthquake victims in Peru.
