Elizabeth Shreeve, a principal and urban planner in SWA's San Francisco office, has been appointed to chair the Urban Land Institute's Sustainable Development Council as of July 1, 2017. "It's an honor and a delight to work with this amazing group of developers, designers, and technical experts, all of whom are passionate about innovations in sustainability, resiliency and health," said Shreeve. The council provides a forum for exchange of emerging best practices, including planning, financing, entitlements, design, construction and operational aspects of projects. This appointment has special meaning to Shreeve personally, as her first mentor at SWA, the late Kalvin Platt, SWA's former CEO, co-founded the group as the Environmental Council. At SWA, Shreeve's practice focuses on urban revitalization and campus projects. She is currently directing SWA's team for the San Francisco State University campus plan update and the master plan for the Orange County Fair & Events Center. Shreeve was the principal planner for UC Davis West Village (featured in the June 2016 LASN, article #28405 at www.landscapearchitect.com), the nation's first planned net zero community"?ua winner of a ULI Global Award for Excellence, and Guthrie Green, a transformational urban park in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma, which was a finalist for ULI's Open Space award. (Guthrie Green was published in the LASN March 2013 issue, article #17502 at www.landscapearchitect.com).
