The Texas Nurserymen's organization formed in 1900 and merged with the South-western Association of Nurserymen in 1918. The Texas Association of Landscape Contractors was founded by a group of Dallas contractors in 1964. TNLA was formed in 1999 when the Texas Association of Nurserymen merged with the Texas Association of Landscape Contractors.

The Nursery/Landscape EXPO draws more than 6,500 attendees and exhibitors???(R)???AE'?N????e'?N,A+annually. This year more than 1,000 exhibitor booths set up shop.

Over 80% of the attendees registered are mid- to upper-level managers playing a major role in company purchases.

This is the 60th time that EXPO???(R)???AE'?N????e'?N,A+has been bringing the Southwest's landscape industry together.

In 1992, a successful 26-year-old scholarship program was expanded to become the TNLA Education & Research Foundation, which awards funds to horticulture/landscape students for their continued education, and also grants money for research in horticulture/landscape areas of interest in Texas.

TNLA Education & Research Foundation is a founding member of the Texas Water Smart Coalition, which educates consumers and businesses on conserving Texas water so that water restrictions that could cripple the landscape industry can be avoided.
