Do you ever just sit and wonder what the early years of your life would have been like if you had the resources you have today? For instance, when I was just a shorthorn, I used to crush aluminum cans and get them recycled to make a little money for the arcades. I would set up a line of cans down the driveway and start stomping. By the time I got done stomping on those cans my legs were dog tired, but at least I had some coins jangling in my pockets. Now if I had this month's featured tool back in those days, I could crush cans all day and still be able to ride my bike to the arcade without wincing in pain. That's right, this month I'm featuring MBW Inc.'s TS33 Series Walk-Behind Vibratory Roller. Keep On Rollin' Let's get right to the business at hand. The TS33's dimensions are 98 inches long, 33 inches wide and 47 inches high. Equipped with rubber tires, the machine weighs in at 2,875 pounds. Two other narrower models come available with steel wheels, but the TS33 does not come with that option. As the machine?EUR??,,????'???s width would suggest, the rolling drum measures 33 inches wide. The roller will achieve a maximum compaction depth of 24 inches and a compaction area of 19,800 square feet per hour. Obviously to move something that weighs well over a ton, you are going to need a little more horsepower than tying "Ol' Bessie" the mule to the front of the thing. So, the makers of the TS33 built it with a three-cylinder, water cooled 26.5 HP Diahatsu/Briggs & Stratton diesel engine, which gives it all the power it needs. When it comes to speed, I've seen faster machines but you'll still move faster than Ol' Bessie does. When compacting, the TS33 travels up to 1.4 miles per hour. At least it gives the earthworms time to dig for deeper soil, which they will need to do if you are compacting up to the maximum compaction depth of 24 inches. Traveling/transport speeds more than double as they reach up to 3.1 miles per hour. My bit of advice to you; park the transport trailer as close to the compaction site as possible. This way, when the day is over you won't have to miss any of those dance lessons your wife (or husbands for our female contractors) signed you up for. On second thought, park as far away as you can. I hear there is a vacant parking spot down by the pub. This vibratory roller also offers power steering with articulation for precise control and oscillation which ensures consistent compaction and improved traction. Having the engine compartment easily accessible allows for the performance of routine maintenance to keep the machine running in tip-top shape. An extra feature offered for the TS33 is an optional radio remote system which allows the user to control the roller from a safe distance. Each of the roller's functions are accessible with the remote system by way of four toggle switches and a joystick. Heck, I can think of many ways the remote system could come in handy. I'd create a detachable blade to put on the front of this machine and use it as a snow plow. Imagine not having to walk out in the cold and shovel snow for an hour before you go to work. It could all be taken care of from the comfort of your recliner. Forget about crushing those cans when I was a kid, shoveling snow off of driveways was where the money could be made. If only I knew then what I know now.
