Chicago?EUR??,,????'???s Navy Pier will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2016. At that future date the pier will have a new look, projected to cost $85 million.

In July of 2011, Navy Pier, Inc. put forth a ?EUR??,,????'??Centennial Vision?EUR??,,????'?? to expand and enrich the experience of those visiting this most popular of Chicago?EUR??,,????'???s public destinations. The design of the ?EUR??,,????'??Pierscape,?EUR??,,????'?? or outdoor public spaces, is an essential component of the vision plan.

A Pierscape design invitation went out in September 2011. Fifty-two design teams submitted proposals. Now five design teams have been named to compete in the final phase of the design competition. They are (alphabetically by team lead):

  • James Corner Field Operations
  • !melk/HOK/Urban Lab
  • Xavier Vendrell Studio/Grimshaw Architects
