Shemin Nurseries Celebrates 50 Years

DANBURY, Conn.-Shemin Nurseries, Inc., founded by Emanuel ?EUR??,,????'??Manny?EUR??,,????'?? Shemin in October 1955 in Greenwich, Conn., is turning 50. Manny's father operated a retail nursery in the Bronx, and the son followed his father's footsteps, starting Shemin after his return from military duties during the Korean War.

The son, however, built an empire. Shemin Nurseries has 30 locations throughout the east and Midwest. The company is a subsidiary of Shemin Holdings Corp., the parent of Novato, Calif.-based United Green Mark, an irrigation supply distributor with 42 centers in the western U.S.

Today, Manny Shemin, 75, continues as a member of the Shemin Nurseries Board of Directors; the CEO is Steffan Burns.
