The Parks Issue of Landscape Architect & Specifier News saw many firms submit their projects for feature consideration. This project was not chosen for a Feature in the issue, but we at LandscapeArchitect.com thought the project deserved to be showcased online . . .
Shanghai Xuhui Midtown Green Corridor is renovated as an "urban carpet," offering diverse experiences for residents in a densely populated area. Its natural and relaxed spatial layout integrates with daily life, making the park essential to the community. From children's playgrounds and nature classrooms to exercise zones and relaxation spaces, it serves citizens of all ages. As an eco-friendly urban park, it provides a micro green oasis with educational zones for children, pet-friendly areas, and native plant habitats. The renovation carefully considered site constraints, such as subway load calculations and tree preservation, reflecting a deep respect for the community and offering a model for future urban park projects.
