Senate Passes Great American Outdoors Act

Awaiting House Approval

With support from both sides of the Senate, the Great American Outdoors Act will provide funding to parks and public lands across the country.

The U.S. Senate has passed the Great American Outdoors Act, a bipartisan bill that will help fund national parks and conservation lands, in a 73-25 vote.

Introduced in March, the bill establishes the National Parks and Public Land Legacy Restoration Fund, which will address deferred maintenance projects under the:

The bill also permanently and fully funds the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) to preserve, protect and provide access to public lands and waters.

Earlier this year, the President called on Congress to send him a bill to restore national parks on Twitter and wrote, "When I sign it into law, it will be HISTORIC for our beautiful public lands."
