With such a noticeable amount of people switching to more eco-friendly forms of fertilizing and landscaping, seaweed fertilizer is quickly becoming more and more popular - and for good reason. Seaweed fertilizer and seaweed liquid fertilizer are some of the most sustainable and eco-friendly organic fertilizers on the market. Many of the elements found in seaweed, such as magnesium, potassium, zinc, iron and nitrogen, are very vital to all plants. Additionally, because seaweed is suspended by water, it does not need cellulose, the main component of a plant's cell wall, to grow upright like land plants do. This means that the plant can be broken down quickly and allows the environment to easily absorb the plant's nutrients, in turn, making seaweed a naturally prime candidate for composting and fertilizer. The fertilizer also boasts all of the generic fertilizer qualities, such as making plants more resistant to frost, pests and stress, while increasing yields, blooms and germination. The liquid form allows the fertilizer to be applied directly to the leaves of a plant or even made into a paste that can be added to the base. This has beneficial effects on plants that may suffer from transplant shock syndrome and have wilting leaves. It is estimated that in the next few years the market for seaweed fertilizer will steadily grow as people catch on to its benefits. According to Transparency Market Research Inc., "The global seaweed liquid fertilizer market is gaining good traction in the market due to the major concern related to the safety of the environment and the need for eco-friendly fertilizers." Be careful when applying concentrated seaweed fertilizers because they can be highly acidic and even harmful to humans. When applying, pay close attention to the instructions provided as some may require dilution before application.
