FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) recently awarded SeaStone "BEST NEW PRODUCT" at the 2001 Design Show in Sarasota, Fla. SeaStone Group, Inc. is a manufacturing firm that has created a product that mimics "key stone" (actually natural coral rock) for use as flooring, veneer, coping or any application that would normally use tile or stone.
Not only does the product fill the need for a replacement of key stone, it also has several unique advantages:
Environmentally friendly uses recycled materials
Locally invented, developed and manufactured
A fully American made product using entirely American materials
Each piece is natural and one-of-a-kind
Structurally as strong and stable as concrete
Applicable for indoor or outdoor use
SeaStone was created to fill the need for a product that could replace key stone which is mined from the oceans reefs. According to the SeaStone, the company wanted to develop a product which would protect Floridas natural resources while at the same time would provide the look and history of Florida for architects and designers.
The product is composed of a unique mix of natural seashell fossil aggregates that are cast into tiles. This process actually creates a shell fossil in 24 hours that takes nature millions of years. Unlike traditional quarried products that destroy the landscape, the base material is a byproduct of the building industry. Until now, it had no viable market and was considered waste material. SeaStone can be manufactured in a variety of sizes, colors and thickness to suit a particular application or custom installation.
