Scripps Park Picnic Grove, La Jolla, CA

Submission by Neri Landscape Architecture (Jim Neri) & GFG Landscape (Alan Connin)

This project transformed a picnic area into a picnic grove by replacing existing tables, improving access for people with disabilities, replacing a drying tree, and installing a new paving material called GraniteCrete.

Jim Neri states: "GraniteCrete was the natural solution to provide an accessible, porous surface that fits seamlessly into this historical and scenic park. It is my favorite GraniteCrete installation because everyone, from the donor to the architect to the community to city park and rec, were all smiles at completion and when the torrential rains arrived the product held up beautifully!"

The upcoming Hardscapes Issue of Landscape Architect and Specifier News saw many firms submit their projects for feature consideration. This project was not chosen for a Feature in the issue, but we at LandscapeArchitect.com thought the project deserved to be showcased online . . .
