The San Jacinto Unified School District is expected to pay ASR Constructors $125,000, which assistant superintendent of facilities and operations Scott Shira claimed is roughly what the LC would have been paid had someone else not been hired to finish their work.

The San Jacinto Unified School District trustees recently decided to settle a lawsuit filed by a former landscape contractor claiming a 2003 contract was breached.

ASR Constructors was hired to landscape 4-year old Estudillo Elementary School. The district alleges to have had a dispute of the quality of work performed by the firm. They also claim they asked ASR to correct the landscape work of disputed quality.

ASR, meanwhile, claimed in the lawsuit that the work had been finished and progress payments were owed.

The district cited their attorneys?EUR??,,????'??? estimate that disputing the claim in court to a loss might result in $1 million in litigation costs in their decision to settle. The settlement reached involved neither party admitting liability or fault with paperwork submitted to Riverside County Superior Court to dismiss the lawsuit.
