Fund Announced

MILWAUKEE - Starting January 1 of this year the Wisconsin Parks and Recreation Association's Student Conference Scholarship was renamed the Edward J. Berry Student Conference Scholarship Endowment Fund.

Edward J. Berry, Major, U.S. Army (retired) had a long and illustrious career in both the military and the leisure services field. During the past three years, Berry has contributed $9,000 to the Emeritus Building Block Fund to assist the WPRA Foundation to provide student scholarships.

In 2000, as a result of a special $5,000 donation by Berry, 21 three-day WPRA Conference registrations at $85 each were awarded to students from UW-Milwaukee, UW-Stevens Point and UW-La Crosse. The remaining money from this contribution was invested by the WPRA Foundation for future Student Conference Scholarships.
