Salaries Increase for Landscape Architecture Grads

The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) 2003 Graduating Student Survey reported that recent graduates?EUR??,,????'??? salaries increased to an average of $35,000 in 2003, up from $33,000 in 2002.

For undergraduate graduates, the 2003 average starting salary was $34,000, up from $32,000 in 2002. For graduates of masters degree programs, the average 2003 starting salary was $41,000, up from $38,000 in 2002.

According to Susan L.B. Jacobson, FASLA, president of ASLA, the salary increases reflect the rising demand for landscape architects and their services. In addition to designing and executing traditional projects, like parks, commercial, residential, and planning, today landscape architects are breaking into new markets like green roofs and security design.
