Safeguarding Pools and Spas

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that nearly 400 children drown each year in a pool or spa and around 5,400 are injured. Installing and repairing pool safety fences can be an add-on service for your company. Even residences without children have a need for them in order to protect visiting relatives and neighbors.

To underline the importance of safety fences, Life Saver Pool Fence Systems, Inc. offers these facts about children who have drowned in pools:
  • 77% had been seen five minutes or less before being missed
  • 46% were last seen in the house
  • 15% of those children were thought to be sleeping

According to the CPSC, pool-related electrocution deaths occur almost every year. Ways you can help prevent them are to keep power cords at least five feet from the water and don't use cords around water that are damaged or repaired with tape. If a piece of electrical equipment falls into the water, unplug it before touching it.
