The firm of Ross Kelly Landscape Architects, P.C., was recently formed when its two principals, Jane Reed Ross and Chuck Kelly, brought over 35 years of combined experience together in the company. Prior to this and since incorporation in 1993, Jane Reed Ross & Associates, P.C., has experienced a wide variety of projects: campus planning for institutions; playground design; streetscape renovation; historic garden preservation; park master plans; greenway trail design; master tree plans for municipalities; and residential garden master plans.
Many of these projects have won American Society of Landscape Architect awards for design excellence, such as the Homewood Shades Creek Greenway.
We are presently on the design teams for the Veteran?EUR??,,????'???s Memorial Park, Homewood Central Park, and the Birmingham Zoo. Ross Kelly Landscape Architects has maintained a reputation for developing quality projects consistently with an environmentally holistic approach and being a valuable asset to the community.

The firm?EUR??,,????'???s goal is to provide the highest level of professional design service and convey our enthusiasm for design and enjoyment of landscape architecture through our innovative approach.
Homewood Shades Creek Greenway Homewood Shades Creek Greenway is a six mile multi-use trail for pedestrian and cycling activities in the Birmingham metropolitan area. It will connect with Jemison Park in the east and run west to connect with West Homewood Park. The Greenway is being financed by Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality money, the city of Homewood, and Jefferson County.
Ross Kelly Landscape Architects was hired to develop a master plan for the trail and then construction documents. Construction for phase I of the trail from Brookwood Mall to Columbiana Road is complete. Phase II from Columbiana Road to Commons Drive will begin in the fall of 2003. Phase III from Commons Drive to West Homewood Park will begin in 2004.
The Greenway will be an invaluable asset for the community, residents and businesses of Homewood, all of whom are supporting it enthusiastically. It will offer great linkage for citizens to walk and cycle to various shops, schools, and offices for transportation, exercise and recreation. For the first time, Homewood will have safe pedestrian access from east to west with minimal crossing vehicular traffic.
Ross Kelly was part of the team lead by Birchfield Penuel Architects to provide master planning and lead site development planning for the 12.2 acre community park. The master plan was initiated by the Park and Recreation Board to restore and renovate the city?EUR??,,????'???s main park that has been ?EUR??,,????'??loved to death.?EUR??,,????'?? The master plan?EUR??,,????'???s three major goals with Homewood?EUR??,,????'???s centerpiece park are to: 1) addresses historic Griffin Creek for water quality and rate of run-off; 2) create a more sustainable park that incorporates its maintainability into the layout; and 3) incorporate trends in active and passive uses into a meaningful master plan.
