Rios Clementi Hale Wins Multiple Awards
Rios Clementi Hale Studios, the nationally recognized multi-disciplinary architecture, design, and landscape architecture firm, has recently received a spate of awards from Los Angeles-area civic, commercial, and academic institutions:
2009 Award, Winner of the Public Open Space category, from the Westside Urban Forum. The WUF honored Rios Clementi Hale Studios design of the proposed Los Angeles Civic Park, in downtown Los Angeles. The jury said the firm?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s reworking of the keystone site ?EUR??,,????'?????<?unquestionably improves upon the quality of the existing space?EUR??,,????'?????<? despite myriad challenges posed by local physical impediments and political constraints.
2009 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Architectural Guild of the University of Southern California (USC) School of Architecture to Mark Rios, FAIA, FASLA. Founding principal Rios trained as an architect and landscape architect, and is lauded for creative explorations that blur the disciplinary boundaries of architecture, landscape, interiors, graphics, branding, planning, and product design. He joins the ranks of other USC Distinguished Alums Frank Gehry, Thom Mayne, and Pierre Koenig.
Los Angeles Conservancy Annual Preservation Award and Los Angeles Business Council Architectural Award, both for a skillful, creative renovation of Mark Taper Forum for The Music Center of Los Angeles County. This 40-year-old theater was revived by Rios Clementi Hale Studios?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR? $30-million overhaul of the auditorium, lobbies, amenities, signage, and interior and exterior lighting, and creation of new spaces for patrons and performers.
Rios Clementi Hale Studios?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR? four principals are Mark Rios, FAIA, FASLA, Frank Clementi, AIA, AIGA, Bob Hale, FAIA, and Julie Smith-Clementi, IDSA, who comprise a team involved in every aspect of design, from practice to education. Founded in 1985, the firm has developed an international reputation and award-winning tradition for its collaborative and multi-disciplinary approach. In 2007, the American Institute of Architects California Council gave Rios Clementi Hale Studios its Firm Award, the organization?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s highest honor.
