Restoration of Country Creek

Wallis Baker Associates, landscape architects in Winter Park, Florida, have completed the preparation of a mitigation plan for the revegetation of 1.23 acres of Country Creek Wetlands. The environmental advisors for the project, Natural Systems Analysts, Inc., assisted in the effort to ease the consequences of the recent construction of a nearby public roadway.

Restoration of the impacted wetlands required a strategic development of two major plant zones: each region will include a lush canopy strata, one consisting of the dominant species of Pond Cypress, and the other of Bald Cypress.

Peter Goffried of NSA praised the project, stating enthusiastically that it was "important for the biologists to team up with the landscape architects to create this plan for the environment of Florida." The successful completion of the proposal excited both companies about the prospect of seeing a more creative collaboration between the biologist and the landscape architect in the future."

Thanks to a successful cooperative effort on the part of both firms, revegetation of the wetlands will soon be underway, and will inspire other projects that are environmentally beneficial as well as aesthetically pleasing.
