A grass seed mixture was specially formulated to grow slowly so it requires less mowing, puts down roots 12 to 14 inches deep so it needs less water, and, according to its developers, never needs a chemical fertilizer to maintain its color.

A recent report stated that California, Arizona, Georgia, New Mexico, Mississippi, Nevada, Kansas, Louisiana, Alabama and other regions of the country are predicted to be in extreme drought by this summer.

Presently being marketed as a measure against these climate immoderations is the third generation of a heat and drought-tolerant lawn seed mixture.

Called Pearl's Premium Ultra Low Maintenance Lawn Seed, it can be used to plant a new lawn or overseed an existing lawn.

According to its developers, the seeds can be planted now in warmer climates or as soon as soil temperature comes up to 50 F in cooler climates.

It was???(R)???AE'?N????e'?N,A+reportedly formulated in special patented proportions and designed to grow so slowly it only needs to be mowed once a month.

Pearl's Premium also grows roots that are 12 to 14 inches deep, which according to its developers, help it thrive with only one fourth the water as other grasses. The mixture is also being promoted as never needing chemical fertilizer to stay green.

The product has received favorable reviews from Popular Science and This Old House magazines. It was one of the first prizewinners of the worldwide MassChallenge Prize for Innovation, and was recently honored by the Boston Museum of Science, as one of the three best inventions to come out of New England.
