The downtown district of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware is undergoing a multi-million dollar streetscape. There are plans to plant honey locust, Japanese lilac and golden rain trees on Rehoboth Ave., trees resistant to the saltwater atmosphere, Scott Rasmussen, a landscape architect with the Maryland-based Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson told the Delaware Coast Press.
Meanwhile, the city parks and trees committee will show Rehoboth commissioners a proposed law to prevent clear-cutting and require a certain number of trees on private property. The ordinance would establish a minimum tree count based on square footage, require permits for cutting down trees, fines for removing trees without a permit and set up an oversight review commission.
