The prestigious Streetlife Design Competition, in collaboration with Landezine, is calling on students and young professionals to transform neglected urban spaces into vibrant and meaningful areas through innovative design. This year's theme, "Lost Sites," focuses on reclaiming urban spaces that have been forgotten, neglected, or adversely affected by urbanization, inappropriate design, or even war. The competition seeks visionary solutions that address critical spatial issues such as sustainability, inclusivity, climate resilience, urban biodiversity, and the empowerment of local communities.

Open to multidisciplinary teams of designers, architects, industrial designers, visual artists, and social scientists, this competition encourages creative collaboration. Teams are tasked with selecting their own "lost site" in European or North American territories-ranging from urban centers to suburban margins-spanning no more than 1 hectare. Importantly, the winning projects will not be built but will instead serve as strong conceptual works that inspire real-world change. Participants may also choose to collaborate with local communities to develop actionable plans.

With ?,?15,000 in total prize money and international recognition on the line, the awards include a ?,?7,000 grand prize, additional cash prizes for runners-up, and three honorable mentions. A newly introduced University Award allows schools with at least three participating teams to compete for recognition, including travel stipends for nominees and promotional opportunities.

The final submission deadline is quickly approaching on December 12, 2024. Teams must complete their registration by December 5, 2024, with the late registration fee set at ?,?100. All submission materials must be uploaded digitally, including a 10-page A3 booklet with project details, visuals, and analysis, as well as supplementary images and files. Finalists will be announced in mid-February 2025 and invited to present their projects at the awards ceremony in Leiden, the Netherlands, on March 28, 2025.

The competition aims to push the boundaries of urban design while addressing the social and environmental challenges of modern cities. Whether it's redesigning abandoned parking lots, neglected green spaces, or forgotten public areas, participants have the opportunity to reshape urban environments and leave a lasting impact.

This is your chance to contribute to the future of urban design and create concepts that can inspire communities worldwide. Don't miss the opportunity to submit your ideas before the December 12 deadline. For more information and to register, visit the official competition page.
