Ready to Rock n' Roll

It has been a few months since I had the chance to write this column. It's good to be back! We've been moving . . . Literally. Not that we moved very far, but move we did all the same.

If you're changing your database now . . . no it's not the same place. It's suite "A,' not suite "M.' And while the distance from M to A is only a few yards, it may as well have been across town. We had been in M this entire millennium and we had two other office condos in the building next door. So, instead of three separate offices, we have one big contiguous office with all of the departments now within working distance instead of within walking distance.

Of course, we had to gut the place, as the previous owners were not publishers. Only one interior wall remains from the original plan. Over the past couple of months we replaced the walls, carpet, ceilings, electric, HVAC, phone, internet, desks, pens, paper, 32 years worth of magazines and memorabilia, et al.

But the best thing is that now we have plenty of room to grow, which we have been doing at the same time, hiring a new editor as liaison to the educational community, a new graphic artist in charge of ad production, a new salesman for the trade show division, and a new contract fulfillment specialist to assist the more than 800 active clients with their ad trafficking, their product releases, their online profiles, and sales lead optimization.

Oh yeah . . . Did I mention that we also reintroduced the landscapearchitect Product Search Engine and placed it on a new, faster/better server? This was after reviewing more than 10,000 individual products, sorting them into 429 different categories and providing links to the companies that manufacture these products. There's even a handy email tool so you can directly contact any one of the more than 3,144 companies displaying products.

Yeah . . . It's been a busy few months, but a good few months. Yes . . . It's good to be back. LASN is here to Entertain You, Educate You and Connect You with Manufacturers who provide the products that you specify, buy and/or use to design, build and maintain your projects. That's what we do, we do it well and we are geared up and ready to do it even better than ever before!

So . . . Please change your database to Suite A. Please check out the all new landscapearchitect Product Search Engine . . . And . . .

Please keep your eye out for an email asking you to complete the upcoming LASN Annual Survey. (We also have a new survey tool that is really cool.) I think they are offering a few special gifts to some of the lucky participants and the results help us figure out what you want to see and read in the pages of LASN.
