The Parks Issue of Landscape Architect & Specifier News saw many firms submit their projects for feature consideration. This project was not chosen for a Feature in the issue, but we at LandscapeArchitect.com thought the project deserved to be showcased online . . .
Phase 1 of construction at Ravenwood Park in Nashville has transformed the 160-acre site into a premier outdoor destination. The centerpiece is a state-of-the-art playground, featuring a 50-foot-tall climbing tower with multiple slides, as well as inclusive ground-level play equipment for all ages and abilities. A scenic walking trail winds through the park and connects to the Donelson Greenway, which offers stunning views of the Stones and Cumberland Rivers. Additionally, a large reservable pavilion and a smaller first-come picnic shelter provide opportunities for a variety of types of social gatherings. The next phase of improvements on this property will include additional walking and hiking trails throughout Lytle Bend, which is largely intended to remain undeveloped as a natural conservation area.
