The upcoming School and Campus Design Issue of Landscape Architect and Specifier News saw many firms submit their projects for feature consideration. This project was not chosen for a Feature in the issue, but we at LandscapeArchitect.com thought the project deserved to be showcased online . . .

The new Rajen Kilachand Center for Integrated Life Sciences and Engineering (CILSE) is designed to accommodate a wide range of research activities. Completed in 2018, the building fronts directly onto Commonwealth Avenue and is the new "front door" to the research sciences at Boston University.
Copley Wolff Design Group provided landscape architectural design services for the streetscape, pathways, two pocket parks, and entry plazas. The pathways create pedestrian links to the adjacent historic Morse Auditorium and Cummington Mall; the pocket parks offer students and researchers quiet niches for the sharing of ideas along an otherwise busy urban corridor; and the entry plazas are meant to serve as extensions of the interior lobbies.
