Installation of the system began last week when construction crews lowered two massive concrete tanks into the ground, which will store 2500 gallons of reclaimed gray water.

Rain Bird is teaming up with This Old House to create a state of the art irrigation system that reclaims water from rain and irrigation runoff, practically eliminating the need to tap into a municipal water source. The project is being installed on a 1950s contemporary style house in Cambridge Massachusetts. The system, designed by the professionals at Rainbird and This Old House, will reclaim and store water from the rain runoff during storms and pump the water out for irrigation during dry spells. It will need practically no municipal water and represents a commitment to water conservation and the intelligent use of water for the lawn and garden. The segment is scheduled to air nationwide on PBS the week of January 5th, so check your local listings for details.
