"Ron's vast experience and knowledge on water conservation and efficiency will be of utmost benefit to the Alliance for Water Efficiency," said Dave Johnson, corporate marketing director for Rain Bird Corporation.

Ron Wolfarth, director of Rain Bird Corporation’s landscape irrigation division, was recently named to the board of directors for the Alliance for Water Efficiency. The Environmental Protection Agency provided funding to explore the ideal of forming an organization focused on water efficiency and to provide for the early operation of the organization.

The Alliance for Water Efficiency is an independent 501©(3) organization, not a part of the EPA. The alliance will become self-sufficient within a short time. Although the organization will work closely with the EPA, it will work in a similar manner with many other organizations focused on water efficiency.

Wolfarth is one of 19 board members selected from throughout North America to provide his water conservation expertise and guidance to the Alliance.

The Alliance for Water Efficiency, based in Chicago, is the first national organization of its kind and Ron Wolfarth was kind enough to speak a little bit about in an exclusive interview with LASN.

The organization was created in partnership with numerous nationwide, regional and state organizations interested in water conservation studies and outreach. Some of the goals of the Alliance are to become a clearinghouse for water efficiency programs and information, train professionals within the industry, focus on the future of green buildings and educate consumers as well as advocate for water efficiency. In addition to irrigation product producers, the Alliance for Water Efficiency’s board members represent water utilities, product and appliance manufacturers, environmental organizations and academic institutions. The board convened in January for the first time to further develop the new organization including its bylaws and its membership.

Wolfarth has been with Rain Bird for 21 years and has held a variety of sales, marketing and management positions. He has been a licensed landscape architect in California since 1978 and has worked in landscape architecture, irrigation, and water management consulting for eight years. In addition, Wolfarth currently serves on the Irrigation Association’s Smart Water Technologies Market Transformation Committee, the Irrigation Association’s Education Foundation Board of Trustees and the steering committee advising the EPA on its WaterSense product labeling program.
