COLUMBUS, Ohio- The Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association is continuing the tradition of introducing Ohio elected officials to the nursery and landscape industry by hosting a Legislative Tour at the Central Environmental Nursery Trade Show ("CENTS").

Scheduled for Wednesday, January 23, the Tour gives the ONLA a unique opportunity to showcase the trade show and highlight current legislative issues, as well as giving those in attendance the opportunity to have one-on-one time with elected officials.

Invited are members of the Senate and House Agriculture Committees and the committees on Energy and Environment as well as representatives from the leadership of the Ohio House and the Ohio Senate. The elected officials are then paired with an ONLA member for a tour of the "CENTS" floor.

As a result of the legislative tours, there have been a number of success stories. For example, last year, Larry Kobel of Kobel Nursery agreed to host his legislator, State Representative Jim Aslainides. Rep. Aslainides is also the Chairman of the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. Six months later when onerous legislation was pending, Kobel met with Aslainides at the state house to communicate ONLA's position. Aslainides responded to his constituent and the ONLA was able to stave off the legislation.
