Some 7,500 people gathered May 18 for the dedication of a 9/11 Memorial placed outside the Center for American Values on the Riverwalk in Pueblo, Colo.
The memorial consists of a 500 lb. steel beam from the collapsed World Trade Center Towers, supported atop two cast stone pillars created by Haddonstone USA's local manufacturing facility.
Accompanying the structure is a plaque explaining the memorial will serve as a ''constant reminder of how fragile freedom can be'' ?EUR??,,????'??? that ''Americans will always stand ready to protect the values our country was founded on.''
The message ends on a poignant note: ''Now and forever, the two pillars lift the precious steel to the sky in the direction of New York City. As a community and a country our pledge echoes throughout this historic Riverwalk: 'We remember to never forget'.''
Following the dedication, the Lt. Dan Band, featuring actor Gary Sinise, preformed a free outdoor concert.
