Proposal Seeks Drought & Fire Resistant Landscaping

The San Diego Board of Supervisors voted in May to push forward a proposal to require all city landscaping to be both drought-tolerant and fire resistant. The move comes during a time of an increasingly prolonged dry season and water shortages. The requirement will apply to all new county parks, libraries, and roadways. Currently, the city maintains 3 million square feet of landscaping.
