Project EverGreen together with Birds & Blooms magazine, has announced the 'Art of Green Spaces Poster Contest', which begins February 1. The contest asks students in kindergarten through 12th grade to create a poster that exemplifies their artistic skills while describing what "green spaces" mean to them. "We want students to use their imagination and really think about what they appreciate most about outdoor green spaces," said Cindy Code, Project EverGreen's executive director. "We are thrilled to partner with a well-known magazine for gardening enthusiasts that reaches one million subscribers, and we're hoping to build on the successful first two years of the contest." Submitted posters should be created on 11x17-inch paper. Any art supplies may be used to create the artwork and all entries must include the following information with the submission or they may not be considered for judging: full name of student, grade, school address (city, state, zip code), phone number and email address (an entry form is available for download online at projectevergreen.org). There is no cost to enter. A panel of art teachers chosen by Project EverGreen will determine the winning posters for four age levels: kindergarten through second grade; third grade through sixth grade; seventh grade through ninth grade; and 10th grade through 12th grade. First-, second- and third-place artists in each age group will receive an Amazon gift card worth $100, $50 and $25. Submissions should be mailed to Project EverGreen, 8500 Station St. Suite 230, Mentor, Ohio 44060. Submissions will be accepted between Feb. 1 and March 31. Judging will take place in April and winners will be notified in May. For more information about Project EverGreen, or for a list of contest rules, please visit projectevergreen.org.
