The Castle Pines North Metro District in Castle Rock, Colo., is offering a water bill credit of up to $1,600 to residents who remove sod and replace it with drought tolerant plants and shrubs.
Castle Pines North Metro District Manager Jim McGrady claimed in local media that sprinklers could use up to 1,000 gallons per day for irrigation, a strong potential sales point. Local media claims average lot sizes in the area are 8,000 square feet, a factor in such a statement.
