Most notable professional accomplishments: The Portland Transit Mall. In 1987, we extended the award-winning, Halprin/SOM design, into the Old Town Neighborhood. Over the next 14 years, we made recommendations for repairs and improvements, studied adding light rail and built another segment near Portland State University. Finally, over the last three years (completion in 2009), my firm has led a comprehensive project for the entire corridor ?EUR??,,????'??? renovating, extending improvements, adding light rail, upgrading amenities and coordinating potential redevelopment along 60 blocks of Portland?EUR??,,????'???s greatest pair of streets. I am honored to have been an integral part of its evolution over 20 years of my career.

Thoughts on being elected to Council of Fellows: It is the greatest individual honor I could hope for as a Landscape Architect. It makes the years of hard work and persistence absolutely necessary and normal. In the manner I have been able to practice, afforded often by being in a prime-consultant role, I have been able to use the discipline of landscape architecture to lead the other design professions. Fellowship validates what landscape architecture can contribute to our built environment. Lastly, it is honor to stand with other Fellow-elects, the best in the country, and to join the current Fellows who are leaders of our profession.
