POLIGON Announces Shade Design Winner


The ?EUR??,,????'??Western Skyline?EUR??,,????'?? design juxtaposes peaks and angles of the roof in conjunction with a simple post and beam framework. The judges liked this shelter for the hot and inhospitable desert environment and its open refuge that encourages quiet contemplation.

Holland, Mich.?EUR??,,????'??+The annual POLIGON Park Architecture design competition called for landscape architects to create a shade structure that ?EUR??,,????'??captured the essence of the American West.?EUR??,,????'??

The judges selected the ?EUR??,,????'??Western Skyline?EUR??,,????'?? design of Landmark Design, Inc., a Salt Lake City firm. The judges said the design ?EUR??,,????'??captured the mountainous terrain and historical mining town architecture of the West in its steep-stepped, overlapping roof planes.?EUR??,,????'??

Honorable Mention went to ?EUR??,,????'??Santa Fe,?EUR??,,????'?? designed by Jesse Scott of Sites Southwest in Albuquerque, which incorporated the look of Native American pueblos in New Mexico and southwestern Colorado.

The wining design will be manufactured by POLIGON and featured as the firm?EUR??,,????'???s 2004 exposition centerpiece for the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) Expo in Reno, Nevada, and at the ASLA Expo in Salt Lake City. The top eight designs will also be on display at both shows.


The ?EUR??,,????'??Sante Fe?EUR??,,????'?? design was awarded Honorable Mention for capturing the essence of southwestern pueblos.
