NOVI, Mich. -- A man recently fired from a Novi business apparently stormed into an office trailer with a rifle Thursday and killed a former coworker before turning the weapon on himself, police said. Police said the man, whose name was not released, shot Michael Bowden, 24, of Madison Heights inside a Valley Crest Landscape Management office trailer. According to preliminary reports, the call of a shooting came in to Novi police just after 4:30 p.m. from the 25000 block of Trans X Road, off Novi Road south of Grand River, said Novi Police Department community relations manager Sheryl Walsh. Both men were dead when police arrived. The gunman had been fired about an hour before the shooting, Novi police said in a news release. He then returned to the office with a .22-caliber semi-automatic rifle and confronted Bowden, police said. After Bowden was shot, the man then turned to a woman standing nearby and told her to write a note that referenced other employees, police said. He told the woman she had been nice to him and told her to leave, police said. Police have recovered the rifle, said Walsh said.
