WASHINGTON, D. C.?EUR??,,????'??+The Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI) will host 2006 International Conference on Concrete Block Paving in San Francisco, California. The tentative conference date is early November 2006. The three-day conference is aimed at design professionals, manufacturers of concrete pavers, suppliers to the concrete paver industry, government officials, university professors, and industry associations.
The International Conference on Concrete Block Paving is held every three years. Past conferences have attracted several hundred delegates. The conferences have been held in Japan, Israel, New Zealand, The Netherlands, and England.
Concrete block paving is also called interlocking concrete pavement with over 400 million square feet sold last year in the U.S. and Canada. This is a small fraction of over 6 billion square feet sold in the world each year. Pavement is seeing increased use in residential, commercial, municipal, and port paving projects in North America. Since the mid-1990s, the industry in the U.S. has been growing at least 15 percent a year, according to the ICPI. Even with this rate of growth, per capita consumption of concrete pavers in the U.S. is one of the lowest among developed nations, indicating a significant potential for expansion of the market.
According to ICPI Chairman Bruce Camper, ?EUR??,,????'??The international conference mission is to educate the industry and design professionals, especially civil engineers. The event will be an opportunity to attract design professionals to education sessions on design, specification, construction and maintenance. The conference will be the place where industry, academics, and design professionals can exchange information and grow the market in North America.?EUR??,,????'??
