About the time many folks in Joplin, Missouri were sitting down to eat dinner on May 22, 2011, the deadliest single tornado in more than half a century struck the region, devastating about a third of the city and killing at least 139 people. The majority of the deaths occurred in homes.
In wake of the destruction, Miracle Recreation has begun a “Playgrounds 4 Joplin” donation program to help rebuild the playgrounds damaged in the community.
“With our manufacturing facilities located only 40 miles from Joplin, many of our friends, families and co-workers were affected by this disaster. We are committed to help bring play back to the children of Joplin,” explains Alissa Jones, the company marketing coordinator.
Miracle Recreation will donate $100 for every playground sold during June, with the proceeds going toward parts for rebuilding playgrounds affected by the tornado. The company will also provide crews to install or repair each playground.
If you would like to personally contribute or see the status of the fundraising effort, visit www.miraclefunraising.com/playgrounds4joplin
One-hundred percent of all donations will go directly to the American Red Cross Joplin Relief Fund.
