The Professional Landcare Network has announced their 38th annual Student Career Days, which will take place at Colorado State University, March 20–23, 2014. This event, which will bring together approximately 850 horticulture and landscape students from more than 65 schools, will give students the opportunity to test their skills in real-world, competitive events, and to interview with landscape, lawn care, irrigation, and other companies. Student Career Days Chair, Ed Furner, Landscape Industry Certified, is a former student attendee of the event and describes it this way, "This is the largest recruiting event of its kind in the landscape industry. It helps build careers and it exposes students, to the vast opportunities and different types of companies that are in our industry." Many of the industry's most influential companies sponsor competitive events at Student Career Days because they believe they are making an investment in the future of the industry. "We at STIHL believe that the future of the landscape industry is bright. Investing in it is critical and we are proud to sponsor the PLANET Student Career Days and its mission to inspire and prepare young people for their future," said Roger Phelps, Landscape Industry Certified, STIHL promotional communications Manager. Student Career Days lead sponsors include STIHL Inc. (Platinum); JOHN DEERE (Gold); Caterpillar Inc., Gravely, an Ariens Company Brand, and New Holland Construction (Silver); and Belgard, Brickman, Husqvarna, Terracare Associates, and The Toro Company (Bronze).
