May 26, 2006?EUR??,,????'??+Remember all that talk last summer about the possible merger between the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) and the American Nursery and Landscape Association (ANLA)?
?EUR??,,????'??Although we achieved encouraging momentum,?EUR??,,????'?? said PLANET President John Gibson, CLT, ?EUR??,,????'??we have decided that it is in the best interests of the memberships of both organizations not to merge at this time.?EUR??,,????'??
The reasoning behind the decision, according to the joint release from PLANET and ANLA, is the ?EUR??,,????'??memberships of the two associations are largely based in different sectors of the green industry,?EUR??,,????'?? although one assumes both groups knew that going into merger mode. ANLA and PLANET say they represent more than 6,000 green industry business professionals. Indeed, a merger would have brought together agricultural nursery production, wholesale distribution, retail garden centers, landscape design/build/installation, lawn care, landscape management, and interior plantscaping services.
?EUR??,,????'??When you make this kind of investment?EUR??,,????'??+volunteer and staff time, as well as financial resources?EUR??,,????'??+it is critical to ensure that you are making the right decision at the right time for the good of both organizations,?EUR??,,????'?? commented ANLA President Buzz Bertolero.
