The Professional Grounds Management Society has announced its Summer Regional Seminar and Site Visit. The event will take place in Minneapolis, Minn., August 4 – 5. Attendees to the PGMS event will tour several sites including Toro Headquarters (a PGMS Platinum Partner), Bailey Nurseries Minnesota and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, which is part of the University of Minnesota. The tour of Bailey Nurseries will focus on their container production facilities where they produce finished container products including larger five gallon evergreens and deciduous shrubs and smaller products including one, two and three gallon shrubs, roses, and perennials. For the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum visit, attendees will tour three-mile drive and hear presentations from Jeffrey Johnson, landscape gardener and arborist, Sam Bauer, University of Minnesota extension educator and turfgrass specialist, and Mary Meyer, professor and extension horticulturist, curator of the Arboretum's NAPCC Grass Collection. In addition, educational seminars will provide a multidimensional learning opportunity and allow attendees to learn from their fellow professionals in the industry. A cocktail reception will provide attendees networking opportunities and a chance to meet with exhibitors to see the latest and greatest the Green Industry has to offer. Early registration is encouraged, as this event is expected to be popular. Registration is open to both PGMS members and non-members. The early-bird registration deadline is July 21, 2014.
