PGMS Elects New Officers

Ellen Newell, CGM, assistant director of grounds services at Arizona State University has been elected and installed as the new president of the Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) during the Society’s annual business meeting, held in conjunction with the 2005 School of Grounds Management and Green Industry Exposition in Orlando, Fla. Newell succeeds Chris Fay of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

The PGMS membership also elected Michael Mongon, CGM, Fairview Country Club, Greenwich, Conn., president-elect; Greg Nichols, Bryn Mawr College in Penn., vice president; and Gene Pouly, CGM, E.F. Pouly Co., Orrville, Ohio, treasurer.

PGMS also has a team of volunteers who serve on its board. Elected to the board as director-at-large was George Van Haasteren, CGM, Dwight Englewood School, Englewood, N.J.; Donald Bottger, CGM, San Diego Convention Center, re-elected as southwest regional director; and Walt Bonvell , Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio, north central regional director.

Ken Stanton, Kevin Harvey, Mike Loftus, Monica Higgins, John Van Etten and Joe Jackson, all CGMs, continue on with the board. Thomas Shaner is the PGMS executive director.
