The Florida Pest Management Association is moving forward in pushing for legislative relief from local ordinances affecting fertilizer applications and lawn care and pest management companies. The goal is to have a professional exemption from ''blackout periods'' specified in the spring and summer months.
The association is deep in the committee process, and with fellow green industries groups such as Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association, the group hopes to have a bill ready for the 2012 legislative session. Reapportionment, required by the two new US congressional districts for Florida, has moved the session opening to February 9th to accommodate the 2012 election season.
