In September 2024, U.S. housing permits reached a non-seasonally adjusted rate of 113,700, showing a 13.8% decrease from the revised August estimate.

Year-to-date permits decreased by 2.0% through September, despite single-family housing permits rising by 9.8%.

Regional year-to-year permits have experienced mixed results, with the Northeast and Midwest increasing by 0.8% and 2.6%, respectfully, while the South and the West decreased by 2.2% and 5.1%.
