PEM Fountain Company is a registered division of Imperial Irrigation Company Limited an Ontario, Canada corporation operating under the laws.

Worldwide registered trademark which is created from the initials of the founders Peter and Elizabeth Micha who immigrated from Germany in 1952.

Originally in the landscaping and nursery trade, they noticed a growing interest in specialized irrigation works.

In 1956 they were asked by a client to provide and install a fountain in their backyard and after some research in Germany and the USA, fountain nozzles and parts were imported and the first fountain became a reality.

In 1957, after an agreement with a German manufacturer and the introduction through the Little Giant Corporation in the USA, the tradename PEM was legally registered.

 
In 1960, PEM introduced their product but this time manufactured by a different German company using an improved alloy.

After some ups and downs, PEM started to manufacture their own product in Canada in 1961.

Continued growth was experienced and in 1967 the corporation was formed and registered. In the same year another partnership corporation was formed.

In 1972, Peter Micha built a machine shop in the backyard, trained himself on all of the equipment and machines and with some assistance started PEM into production.

By 1974, Peter Micha decided to create new equipment and became the manufacturer of the most modern line of fountain equipment in the world.

By 1976, business was growing rapidly and it was at this time that PEM started to introduce a very liberal discount system for prepayment to help the cash flow.

In 1985, a large industrial property and factory was acquired for expansion.

The first CNC automatic production lathe was added to the seventeen manual and semiautomatic lathes and other machine tools in 1999 with several more following in 2001 and 2002.

A warehouse addition to the industrial factory was built in 2000 and in 2003 a corporate office was also added.
