Parker Lumber www.parkerlumber.com based in Beaumont, Texas, recently received LBM Journal's Entrepreneur of the Year Award for 2014 in the category of "Sales of Over $50 Million." The award honors the company and the chain's four Builders' Supply stores in Southern California.

As reported by LBM Journal, which covers the lumber and building material distribution industry, Parker Lumber, a member of Do it Best Corp., has been serving builders, remodelers and homeowners for more than 80 years in Texas and Southern California. Scott Parker runs the family-owned company that employs 350 people at 22 store locations.

The diverse store locations have been allowed to adapt to local needs, offering everything from fishing supplies to sporting goods as well as millwork products.

"Some of our small stores operate almost as general stores," says Parker. "We run lumberyards, but some of them don't sell much lumber."
