Paint It Green

With a lot of the country in drought or near drought conditions, lawns are turning brown. Landscape contractors can propose replacing dead turf with sod, switching to synthetic turf or a simpler solution: Paint the yard green. GrassBGreen offers a concentrated eco-friendly green lawn-paint that can be applied with an ordinary garden sprayer.

Andy Newman of Minnesota-based A-Scape Landscaping told kaaltv.com that the idea of painting brown grass green seemed strange to him, but then he changed his mind, "I laughed the first time it was suggested to come out and do this (but) after seeing how the finished product looks, it makes a 100 percent difference."

Lawn paint maker, LawnLift says on its website that their paint is biodegradable and not harmful to pets or children and doesn't rub off when wet. It can last from two weeks to six months, but in most cases three months, the website says.

A good sign for landscape contractor is that there are not a lot of companies offering the application service, and homeowners are reluctant to do it themselves because it is labor intensive.
